This
film was made at the very first begining of the Intifada in the year 2001.
It's a try to give a different reality of the Pelestinian Intifada as seen in
the media.
Through this film I tried to get deeper into the lives, the personal concerns
and the small dreams of those young children who stand in the front lines
defending
their country. Staying Alive is a scream in a cruel, unjust, and
neglectful world...
An appeal for a less painful future... it's a warning call.
And for those who are concerned they have to make a long and thoughtful stop there.
The
main two characters in the film are Mohamed, 14 and Ahmad, 16
years old.
I met both of them in Ramallah at one of the check points where lots
of
young children used to go and through stones at the israeli soldiers. That
was their way
of expressing their anger, frustration and resistance to the israeli
soldiers who are occupying
their land.
Both of them were born and still live in Al Jalazoun refugee camp near Ramallah.
In the
film i meet these to boys and i go with them to their personal lives, to see how
they live, how do they play, how do their families deal with them , ho do their
teachers
at school treat them, what are their goals in life, and what do they
dream of...
